CACHE SERVER FEATURES
EngageIP Cache Server is a high performance content acceleration product. By using caching to reduce overall bandwidth demand enterprises can reduce costs and increase performance. In addition to reducing bandwidth EngageIP Cache Server can be employed to reduce web server load and thus increase web site responsiveness and performance.
- Rule based Controls – Many policies of the cache are controlled by rule based lists. Each rule can contain one of many matching patterns, followed by an action. This makes configuration of the Cache Server extremely flexible.
- Real-time Logging and Event Notification – Enables system event logging and allows administrators to specify events to be logged and email alerts for occurring events.
- DNS Caching – Enables caching of DNS entries to boost overall performance by eliminating latencies inherent in contacting a DNS server.
- Whirlwind – High performance core cache engine, available on multiple operating environments, including Microsoft Windows 2000 / NT / XP and Linux.
- Enhanced Web GUI – The GUI is completely web-based allowing for remote monitoring and management. It is also enhanced with JavaScript-based popup online help. The online graphs are generated at the browser with a Java Applet, which accelerates viewing.
- Pre-Fetching – Pre-fetching capability enables EngageIP Cache Server to pro-actively download popular sites at a given time or time interval to maximize available bandwidth or reduce associated bandwidth costs.
- Bandwidth Pools – Bandwidth utilization is controlled through port 80 (port 21 in proxy mode), giving more control to network administrators.
- Built-in Web Server – The web GUI is delivered completely from inside the cache engine, increasing performance and providing greater security.
- Peers – Peers are selectable by either ICP, Round Robin, URL hashing, or combinations thereof.
- Plug-ins – The functionality of the cache engine can be extended via plug-ins. Please contact LogiSense to obtain an SDK.
- Reporting – Track detailed user statistics and usage patterns using third party solutions from Web Trends and Web Spy.
- WCCP – Support for version 1 & 2.
- User Authentication Protocols – Transparent RADIUS Authentication and Transparent NTLM Authentication. HTTP/Bandwidth rules can be established by Username/groups by transparently assigning RADIUS/NTLM Usernames/Groups with Dynamic IP addresses.
- SNMP – Monitoring via SNMP supported
